Sprint 0 - Metal Gear Rex
For common art, we split the art cohort into teams to work on projects as a group!
So I did the smartest thing imaginable and am working on a solo project c:
Jokes aside: None of the other projects has a role that was a good fit for me (AKA gave me enough interesting work to encompass the project and make a noticeable impact on said project)
So yeah. It was either become a DLC to another project or square up and be the star of my own. So I've decided to free bird it and see how it goes.
What I've decided to model is Metal Gear Rex from the original metal gear! The most modern rendition we have is the busted version from MGS4, and even that shows it age. So I've elected to make a realistic version of the original metal gear!
Here's a reference board:
There's a particular model of the MGR that seems to be accurate to the original! So I've ordered it and hopefully it will arrive next week for me to construct and use as reference, which would be a massive help as for once I'd be physically holding the reference I'm trying to model.
It's also just a really cool figurine to create and have.
So yah. This is my creation for this big project, and here's my schedule for it:
Sprints (2 weeks each)
1: referance board, blockout, lowpoly
2: High poly Hell (7 pieces, lower body)
3: Higher poly Hell (7 pieces, upper body)
4: retop, Uv, baking and basic textures
5: Finished textures, simple scene; optional vfx
6: Final polish based on feedback
Annndddd that's about it! I'll update things as I go, and hopefully the high poly doesn't nuke me. But otherwise, I'm good to go! Hopefully later on a VFX artist would be up to give it a laser, and maybe rig it? But we'll see.
Thanks for reading. See ya later alligator.
