Week 41 - Common Art

Common Art - Sprint 6

Metal GEAR
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Yeah there really isn't much to say. all the textures are done, everything is in unreal, and I made additional poses in maya to show off the maneuverability (aka it COULD be rigged into functional metal gear)

Fun stats time:

Total time texturing:
Initial: 3h 17m
Refining: 25h 59m

Average time per piece: ~2h 15m
Fastest piece: Lower quad with 20 mins
Longest piece: Head with 3h 40min

Anyways, enough talk. Rest of the post is gonna be a slideshow.

Enjoy.

Week 41 - 3D Art

Carrot Top - W3

And here we are.

I was way ahead schedule last week, so this week I'm all finished texturing and setting up a simple lighting scene

So here we go
Here's how it came out:

Product Shots

Detail Shots

Separate parts & pivots

(It was important that this be usable as a game asset, and in-game there are parts that move separately as the tank moves/idles, as well as separates from the tank like the horn and wheels! I made sure to account for everything)

Substance

Tri-Texture

Annnd that's about it. Real early frfr.

IF after my research project and common art are done & I have more time, I'll add more to this post. Otherwise all final changes come next week.

Schedule:

w3.5: Polish based on feedback, try stuff

Really vague, I know. But given I have less then 4 days for the next turnin + other assignments also due then + industry review, I don't wanna promise anything.

So yeah. Thanks for reading. See ya.

week 40 - 3D Art

Carrot Top - W2

Welp, I think I made good progress.

And given my last post was a word fest, I think this one short be prompter.

Here's how it came out:

Retop

UV'd

Baked & First pass Textures

so yeah. That's about it.

I KNOW I got more linework to do on the carrot, treads, and engine, but given I made a LOT of progress, I wanted to stop for this week and give some room for adjustments.

UPDATE 7/25: NEVERMIND I DID IT ANYWAYS

the treads weren't that bad, just more time consuming than anything. Same with the engine

The carrot? Difficult, but I got it. Using the "paint along path" tool I was able to create consistent edge loops, and through a combination of measurements (IE putting a ruler against my screen and lining things up), using my eyes/gut instinct, and a LOT of patience, it came out great!

Literally all I have to do is polish it up and put it in engine. After that? Big shrugs bro.

UPDATE TO SCHEDULE:

W3: Polish Textures + In engine; possibly go back to maya and try to get a high to bake? Might be unnecessary.
W3.5: ???
